Mary Ball Washington Regional Council
The Virginia Initiative for Growth and Opportunity in each Region, known as GO Virginia, is a statewide initiative to create more higher-paying jobs in Virginia through business-led regional collaboration. The Mary Ball Washington Regional Council governs GO Virginia Region 6, which covers the Fredericksburg area, the Northern Neck, and the Middle Peninsula (Planning Districts 16, 17, and 18). The George Washington Regional Commission is the Support Organization and Fiscal Agent for the Regional Council.

Mary Ball Washington Regional Council Bylaws – Adopted May 31, 2017, Updated December 11, 2017
The Mary Ball Washington Regional Council (MBWRC) is seeking applications for GO Virginia funding. MBWRC estimates that $1,500,000 in GO Virginia funds will be available in Fiscal Year 2019 (July 1, 2018-June 30, 2019) for projects serving GO Virginia Region 6.
Project Application Packet
Projects must adhere to the requirements outlined in the Virginia Growth and Opportunity Act, Virginia Growth and Opportunity Fund (GO Fund) Grant Scoring Guidelines, and Administrative Approval Process for Grants under $100,000 from Regional Per Capita Grant Allocations (if applicable). These requirements, as well as policy decisions made by the State Board, are summarized in the FY19 Project Application Packet. The packet includes grant guidelines, the letter of intent template, the application form, and attachment templates.

Letters of Intent – Due October 12, 2018
In order to apply for Fiscal Year 2019 funding through GO Virginia Region 6, prospective applicants are required to submit a letter of intent, using the template above, to Kate Gibson via email (firstname.lastname@example.org). The next deadline for letters of intent is October 12, 2018.

GO Virginia Region 6 Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Study
The Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) has engaged TEConomy Partners to work with each GO Virginia region to develop strategies around startup ecosystem capacity building. DHCD’s contract with TEConomy builds upon a Virginia Research Investment Committee (VRIC) study focused on the entrepreneurial ecosystem within the five major universities in the Commonwealth.
First Stakeholder Meeting
- Description: TEConomy Partners will present findings of quantitative and qualitative analysis of entrepreneurship within the region. Attendees will discuss gaps and opportunities.
