PUBLIC COMMENT

Amendments to the 2035 Financially Constrained Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP)

The Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (FAMPO) has opened a Public Comment Period to accept comments on the following two proposed amendments to the 2035 Financially Constrained Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP):

VDOT has requested that the year of construction for the Northern Segment of the High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes on I-95 be changed to 2015.  The Southern Segment of the I-95 HOT Lanes will be listed as a separate project and its year of construction be set to 2024.

FHWA has requested that, for financial constraint clarification purposes, any project that is partially funded in the Constrained Highway Plan is labeled “PE and NEPA Study only”.

A Public Hearing will take place during the Policy Committee meeting of the Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (FAMPO) on Monday, March 19, 2012 at approximately 7:15 p.m.  The meeting will be held at GWRC/FAMPO office located on 406 Princess Anne Street in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Employment/Contractual Opportunity

The Farmers Market.Co (TFM.Co) is a marketing alliance of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania and King George Farmers Markets, supported by the George Washington Regional Commission (GWRC).  TFM.Co operates a token program to increase local food access and affordability, and to generate seasonal fresh food sales for family farms. GWRC seeks a part-time or independent contract bookkeeper to support TFM.Co by providing weekly support for the token program, which serves SNAP (Food Stamp) and Credit customers.  Responsibilities include:  Work with Market Managers to compile weekly token reports from each market; prepare and disburse weekly reimbursement checks (or electronic transfer payments) to market producers under GWRC supervision; maintain budgets and market results; support GWRC internal financial controls for program management and grant reporting; annually maintain W-9s and issue1099s.  Approximately 3-4 hours per week; hours will vary but candidate must be available weekly during the market season (April – Dec).  Limited compensation is available through current grant funding.  This is an opportunity for the right individual to help develop and nurture a successful local food program and to play an active role in supporting a vibrant and sustainable community food system.  GWRC is an equal employment opportunity employer.
